Littler Mendelson PC - Paralegal (06/02/26)

Under the supervision of an attorney, the Paralegal assists attorneys, and other paralegals in all stages of the litigation process. Must be able to work independent of direct supervision and have sufficient skills to allow for successful problem-solving.

This is a hybrid position resident in Portland, OR and follows a schedule working in-office 3 days per week.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Initial review of case to assist attorneys’ evaluation of case. Draft case chronologies, “cast of characters”, answers and other pleadings; oversee receipt and intake of client documents.
  • Coordinate the written and documentary discovery process. Draft discovery requests and responses for attorney review, coordinate production of documentary responses, review sufficiency of written and documentary responses. Attend document production, interact with client to obtain pertinent documents.
  • Coordinate and handle deposition process. Coordinate and schedule lay and expert depositions, draft deposition outlines and select potential exhibits for attorney review, select relevant material for expert review, attend depositions, summarize transcripts. Prepare and serve subpoenas; arrange for court reporters/video technicians.
  • Coordinate creation of litigation support database. Coordinate the creation of database in-house or litigation support firms, coordinate receipt and transfer of documents for document imaging, deposition summaries, word searches and provide links to written and imaged databases.
  • Assist in factual investigations. Assist in or coordinate with investigators witnesses searches, interview clients, employees, or third-party witnesses, conduct public records searches, review and summarize employment and medical records for attorney review.
  • Coordinate and assist in trial preparation. Coordinate compilation of trial binders, trial exhibits, demonstrative exhibits, coordinate arrangements for equipment and use of offsite trial facilities; assist with preparation of motions in limine, jury instructions, witness and exhibit lists; draft direct and cross examinations; assist with jury selection, operate trial preservation software, and attend trial.
  • Perform basic legal and medical research, utilizing library books, online research tools and internet, cite checking and shepardizing.
  • File maintenance within Firm standard. Prepare files for storage or return to client.
  • Assist in the post-trial and appeal process by performing such tasks as polling jury members, drafting memoranda of costs, cite-checking Motions for JNOV and/or new trial and appellate briefs, and creating and coordinating the assembly of excerpts of record.
  • Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of the job.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  •  Must have a minimum of 3 – 10 years of experience as a paralegal in a law firm or corporate law department and possess a solid working understanding of litigation issues and process. Trial experience preferred.
  • Experience in coordinating case clerks and other paralegals preferred; coordinating all phases of case management for class actions and document intensive litigation using automated databases and automated document retrieval and imaging systems.
  • Familiarity with Oregon State and Federal courts, and court procedures.
  • Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, LiveNote, Relativity and other litigation support programs, and on-line research tools. Trial Director software experience is preferred.
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to communicate with a diverse group of attorneys, staff and clients and provide information with ordinary courtesy and tact while safeguarding confidentiality.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize numerous tasks and complete them under time constraints.
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment.
  • Must be self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as a team member.

EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS:

Education: Bachelor's degree or relevant experience.

Experience: Minimum of 3 – 10 years paralegal experience.

Certifications: Paralegal Certificate preferred.

Public Defense Attorney Services - City of Vancouver (04/28/2026)
The City of Vancouver is seeking qualified attorneys to provide professional public defense services for indigent individuals charged with misdemeanor and gross misdemeanor offenses in district court.
Scope of Services:
Selected contractors will be responsible for providing comprehensive legal representation, including but not limited to:
·    Client consultation and case evaluation
·    Court appearances and trial representation
·    Legal research, motion practice, and negotiations
·    Ensuring compliance with constitutional, statutory, and City and Washington State Bar Association standards for indigent defense.
Minimum Qualifications:
·    Active membership in good standing with the Washington State Bar Association, which may be through reciprocity from Oregon
·    Demonstrated experience in criminal defense, particularly in municipal or district court
·    Familiarity with City/WSBA indigent defense standards
·    Ability to manage caseloads in compliance with state guidelines

Contract Terms:

OSB Professional Liability Fund - Chef Executive Officer (04/14/26)
