Our Programs

Multnomah CourtCare^© improves access to justice by offering free, drop-in childcare to families with business at the Central Courthouse, federal courthouse or Justice Center. Since it opened in 2001, CourtCare has kept 19,660 children out of the courtroom, out of lines at service counters and away from the quiet study in the Legal Resource Center. Instead, they've been able to play, read and color, have a snack, or take a rest while their parents or guardians tend to the business that brings them to court. CourtCare is for children six weeks to 12 years of age.

CourtSupport improves the quality and administration of the legal system by providing a bilingual Navigator to staff the information desk at the courthouse, answer questions and connect visitors with courthouse services or accommodations. Coming to court can be stressful. Having a friendly, welcoming person ready to be of help can make all the difference to someone who is feeling lost, overwhelmed or confused as to where to begin once they've gotten through security.

CourtConnect is our public outreach program that engages communities in dialogue with lawyers and judges about the rule of law, builds relationships in the community, and helps to put a personal face on the judiciary. Through CourtConnect, hundreds of connections have been made between judges, lawyers, and community
members, with the goal of demystifying and building trust in our justice system.
