Beneficial Ownership Information Clinic

Interested volunteers are invited to complete the form at this link to participate.

The YLS Pro Bono Committee and Lewis & Clark Law School's Small Business Legal Clinic (SBLC) are coordinating a Beneficial Ownership Information Clinic to help current small business owners comply with the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network Beneficial Owner Information reporting requirements. SBLC works with low-income clients who would likely not otherwise have access to these legal services. Each volunteer will be matched with a client and meet for a brief, initial appointment on Friday, May 17 at a convenient time for the volunteer. Volunteers will be given the option of meeting their client in person or virtually.

As a volunteer, you will work with your matched client on whether a BOI report is required, how the client files a report, whether the client qualifies for an exemption, and how the client can request a FinCEN identifier.

Some FinCEN Reporting experience is preferred, but the SBLC will also provide resources and materials to catch volunteers up on the requirements. There will also be attorneys experienced in advising small business available to discuss issues that come up during the clinic.
