Meet the Pro Bono Challenge

In 2006, the Volunteer Lawyers Project (VLP) celebrates its 25th anniversary and your help is needed. Access to justice and support of pro bono efforts are long-standing values of the MBA membership. In addition to your pro bono time, the VLP needs your financial support to staff the program. In order to help meet the VLP’s financial needs, the MBA Board of Directors voted in 1990 to include a member contribution as a check-off on the dues statement. The dues check-off program is a significant portion of the VLP’s yearly budget.

Each year, close to 2,000 clients are served by the VLP through six pro bono projects and a direct referral listserv program. Without your financial contribution, clients needing help in contested restraining order hearings, consumer protection matters and end-of-life planning, to name a few, would not receive any legal assistance. The MBA is proud of our members’ support of VLP. It is through the donation of your pro bono time AND your financial contribution that the VLP is able to serve so many clients in need. We urge you to contribute to the VLP and we hope that you elect to give even more than the amount indicated. Thank you!
