Communications: Freedoms, Limitations, Responsibilities
In history, whoever controlled communications, controlled the world. Where does the government enter the picture? Is it the government's responsibility to control access and content or to assure total freedom? What does the future hold? The League of Women Voters of Portland invites you to attend a panel discussion with William Bernstein, co-founder Efficient Frontier Advisors, Mary Beth Henry, City of Portland, Mike Dewey, Oregon Cable Telecommunications Association and Sheldon Renan, filmmaker and author. The second in the MBF grant-funded series Government in Our Daily Lives - Foundations and Today, the League has developed a free, current, monthly program with expert panelists examining the legal, political, economic and social aspects of various general civic issues. Meetings are open to the public and will be shared statewide via TV, web streaming and YouTube. Tuesday, October 29, 7 - 8:30 p.m. in the Boardroom of the Multnomah County Building. View the flyer for more information or contact Marnie Lonsdale at 503.285.0104 or email@example.com. Press release.
